General Motors offers the BuyPower Card, which is a rewards credit card that accumulates "Earnings" for your everyday purchases. As of 2014, cardholders receive 5 percent Earnings on the first $5,000 in card purchases and 2 percent thereafter. Unlike traditional reward programs that offer gift cards or cash back, the GM Earnings are used to buy or lease a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac. The Earnings can be applied in various ways, such as the down payment or optional upgrades. There is no limit to the number of Earnings you can use.
BuyPower Card Earnings
With the BuyPower Card, there's no limit to the number of Earnings you can accumulate or redeem. Since the Earnings don't expire, you can keep saving until you are ready to buy a new vehicle. GM also allows you to combine Earnings with any current offers and incentives to maximize your savings. When you are ready to shop for your new car, visit a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealership. After agreeing on a price, identify yourself as a BuyPower cardholder to redeem your Earnings.
Other Earnings Options
In addition to the BuyPower Card, GM also features the GM Business Card and the GM Extended Family Card. Both cards also accumulate Earnings that can be applied towards the purchase of a new vehicle. Unlike the other cards, Earnings from the GM Extended Family Card are redeemable for cash.
